Radjinder Bhagwanbali is a historian and sociologist. He has been researching the history of Hindustani people since 1981. He studied contemporary history, economics of developing countries, and sociology. He received his PhD from the University of Nijmegen in 1996 with a dissertation in Dutch about "The recruitment and selection of laborers under the indentured labor system from India for the colony of Suriname, 1873-1916." He has conducted archival research on the history of Hindustani contract labor in the Netherlands, Suriname, England, and India.
