Een ster in de spiegel:
Lili Irani grew up in Iran after the 1979 revolution and prefered racing on a skateboard than obediently sitting at home. The war between Iran and Iraq from 1981 to 1988 also has profound implications for her family. Maturing as a young woman with her own dreams also meant butterflies in her stomach and heartache. After graduating from college she went on to work at an advertising agency, but the desire to build an independent and free existence did not leave her thoughts. Through her brother she is introduced to an Iranian who lives in the Netherlands. This is the beginning of a turbulent journey that leads her through trial and error to the Netherlands. There she is confronted with the struggle for a residence permit and a husband who is addicted to opium. Her present in a country that should offer its prospects as an independent woman is interwoven with treasured memories of her childhood in Iran. It means a constant search for her own identity is challenged by two worlds. Will Lili succeed to unite the best of both worlds and find the peace that she´s looking for? This book is only available in Dutch.
